Senior Electrical/Electronics Engineer

  • Research, design, develop or test electronic systems, system components and electrical circuits for commercial and industrial use employing knowledge of electronic theory and materials properties. Design electronic circuits and components for use in Point of Sale (POS) Terminals and Open Payments enabled Public Transit Fare Collection Systems including contactless (NFC) readers, fare media validators, and ancillary equipment. Knowledgeable of Radio Frequency (RF) and Near Field (NFC) Systems, design requirements and communication protocols.


  • Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Prepare documentation such as technical drawings, schematics and specifications related to electrical or electronic systems, components and circuitry.
  • Prepare specifications for purchase of materials, components and equipment.
  • Analyze and develop core electronic systems functionality, component integration requirements, electrical interface requirements and specifications to achieve a specific final product capability.
  • Develops electrical/electronic test prototypes and test methods to evaluate overall performance and compliance to known or customer promulgated standards.
  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing and installation standards and/or specifications.
  • Develops electrical/electronic circuits, electronic component selection, board design features, Gerber files, and component bill of materials. Works with circuit board and board assembly manufacturers and design houses to provide final populated board designs and manufacturing specifications.
  • Plans or develops applications or modifications for electronic properties used in components, products or systems to improve technical performance.
  • Performs software/firmware testing and knowledgeable of embedded software coding, operating systems and code compilation. Works with Mechanical/Hardware Design and Embedded Systems Engineers to optimize performance of a component, a system or the final product itself.
  • Estimates labor, material or manufacturing costs for preliminary costing evaluation and pricing.
  • Operates electrical/electronic test equipment such as capacitance meters, electronic probes, circuit testers, multimeters, network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, waveform generators and signal conditioners.
  • Works with customers, vendors and other internal resources to resolve customer technical issues or to determine important customer requested functionality for product development and performance improvement.
  • Assume a key leadership role in managing the various certification processes, such as ISO/IEC 14443, ISO/IEC 18092, and ISO/IEC 15693 Testing/Evaluations, UL, CE, EMV Level 1, FCC 15 Class B, and other Environmental and Use Specifications and resulting testing.


  • Bachelor's degree (BSEE) from four-year College or university; and 8 to 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with RF systems such as NFC, WiFi, and Cellular embedded systems highly desired. Prior Public Transit System Integration experience also desirable.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. Strong programming skills applicable to embedded systems. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook, Able to code using the following programming languages; C, C++, Python, Shell Scripting, and JAVA. Knowledgeable of operating system development environments including; Micro OS, Linux, Yocto Linux, Android, iOS, Windows and Ubuntu. Experience with ARM Kiel and ARM GNUEABBI GCC G ++ Compilers. Strong skills using code testing software, compilers and analytical software.
