Brush Long Life Magnetic Head Material Technologies
Long-life magnetic heads from Brush
maintain gap integrity throughout their life spans. Wear rates are
predictable and MCBF is extended permitting high volumes of transactions
with reliable data transmission and scheduled maintenance. These factors
combine to produce highly reliable, cost-effective magnetic heads for
high-traffic installations.

Long Life Technology Coatings
| Ceramic Coat |
The
ultimate long life choice, this ultra durable technology is a
plasma sprayed coating of AlO2 and TiO2,
producing a hard wear surface at Rc60 hardness.
|
| CoMoly™ |
High
performance coating in dirty environments. Plasma sprayed
coating contains cobalt and molybdenum. Creates a hardened
wear surface with dirt and grime resistant properties. CoMoly
coating prevents the adhesion of foreign matter that impairs
magnetic head performance. |
Supermium®
is a unique proprietary Sendust (iron-silicon and aluminum) alloy that
Brush has further refined to optimize the wear and magnetic
characteristics of the material. Independent research shows that heads
constructed with Supermium® cores achieve 18 times the life of
conventional metal core material. Adding ceramic coating to a Supermium®
core head dramatically increases the life expectancy to have
more than 100 times the wear life of heads with metal cores.
Brush Industries HICO Technologies
Brush uses a proprietary magnetic annealing process to produce heads with either HICO or LOCO properties or both depending on the application. Brush HICO technology allows encoding of the highest coercivity materials to meet ISO standards.
Hypermium I (1.5K-4K oer)
- optimum HICO write performance
- HICO only read or write
Hypermium II (300-4K oer)
